We still think that towns the Irish Typically would emigrate to in England, were Birmingham, Manchester and Liverpool.
But it turns out that its still the case that the majority of Irish Emigrants relocate from Ireland to London.
Apparently this has always been the case. Its where the work is.
The Irish Community in London is the Fourth Largest Ethnic Group in the capital.
So, many of the Eighty Thousand moving to england from Ireland last year will have joined their friends in London and its suburbs.
In fact, in our own experience, of those Irish People moving back to Ireland recently, have tended to be from the provinces, including Birmingham and Manchester.
This could be because those Irish communities in the provinces have been established longer, and the people are now older and are returning home to retire.
Also, during the boom times in Ireland, property prices were so high, especially trying to buy a family home in Irish Cities, became unaffordable, for most Irish people living in the English Provinces.
Unless they had a house to sell in London or the South East it seems to us, that, even those many Irish Families that really wanted to go home to Ireland, they had to stay put in the provinces of England.
But, now that should start to change, and we can see already there is an increase in removals from the larger English Cities such as Birmingham and Manchester to Ireland, which may be the backlog that built in the boom times, of those who delayed their return home to Ireland.
And, although we still, do find Irish People moving back to Ireland from London, its been mostly moving from Ireland to London lately.
And those people that do move to London, are usually younger and are moving from Ireland for work in London. so if they leave London it can sometimes be to travel further afield to improve their prospects, many going to Canada or Australia.
So London is only a springboard.

McCrorys Removals Ltd are recruiting again, and currently have a vacancy for a Class 2 Driver.
The job entails Packing and Loading the removal vans and hgv trucks and moving our customers mostly from the UK To Ireland, as well as backloads from Ireland to the uk.

Although we do full house removals from the UK To Ireland, we also offer a part load service, and this involves taking inventories and seperating and indetifying each customers belongings.

And of course there are some nights out, usually two or three nights away from the depot per week.

Our UK Depot is in Nottingham and that is where the HGV Class C Driver job is for. but McCrorys Removals would assist with Relocation costs for candidates from beyond the area.

The removal trucks all have large sleeper cabs etc. but there is also a Night Out allowance paid, and the Irish Ferry routes we use all provide a cabin and meals etc.

This is really a specialist Furniture Removal Driver Vacancy and not just an ordinary lorry hgv driver job.

As is the norm in the industry, the driver would be expected to take responsibility for all crews on their trucks

Wages are negotiable depending on experience.

Must be aged over 25 years.

We would regard this job to be permanent once a trial period was undertaken.

We are unable to employ drivers with poor driving or bad points records and we will always check ref.

relocating to the south of Ireland

Driving in the South of Ireland, also known offically as Eire, or The Republic of Ireland, is a similar experience to driving in the UK.
Although, Its still driving on the left hand side, and most of the traffic signs are similar, with a few exceptions.
For example, instead of Give Way, the signs will say Yield, and the Irish speeds signs are all in Kilometers, so when you see a sign saying max speed 120, dont mistake that for miles.
There are Police Cars patrolling the main roads these days, but they will say Gardai, and if they also have the words Traffic Corps, they will certainly take an interest in your progress, if you start to travel at 120 miles per hours!
Also, you will find all the place names are in the English and Irish language.

There are no formalities for using your car in Ireland, apart from informing your insurance company to extend cover to Ireland, But, if you are moving to the South of Ireland, you will need to re-register your car and, in effect, import a car from Great Britian to Ireland.

In spite of the recession, and although we’re always hearing of people emigrating from Ireland to the UK, there is still a steady flow of people moving from England to Cork.

Moving from the uk to Co. Cork has a lot of attractions.

As the largest County in Ireland Co. Cork, has a lot to offer, including, Mountains, Velleys, Rivers, and uncrowded coastal towns such as Kinsale.

And, still there is always a strong demand for property for those wishing to move from the UK to Cork City, with its Cathedral, Opera House, Theatres, Monuments and of course the Live Music Venues.

Cork City is believed, by many Corkonians, to be the real Capital of Ireland, with its many live music events and venues, it seems to have managed to continue to be both Traditional and still vibrant.

Killarney in Co. Kerry attracts many thousands of visitors, in spite of the generous amount of rainfall it can boast each year. it compensates for the wetness by boasting of having such a diverse ecology that they have a wide variety of species some of them unique to the area, including the only remaining herd of Red Deer living in the wild in Ireland.

No wonder so many people have are still moving from the uk to Killarney, as they have been doing for centuries.

There is evidence of the area being inhabited during the Bronze age long before the Irish Jaunting Cars took to the roads.

And McCrorys Removals have been doing removals from the uk to Co. Kerry for decades, and certainly before the idea of a dual carriageway had even been thought of, and also long enough to learn that a removal lorry is not designed to fit under the tunnels between Kenmare and Glengariff, regardless of whatever our customers tell us!
Its a long way to have to reverse down the mountain.

Moving to County Galway from the uk

County Galway has more attractions that the Galway Races, The Seaside at Salthill, and Galway Bay.
There are lots of historic sights too, and within an hour of the city centre you can find medieval sites of international importance.
Which is why so many visitors are attracted to ‘the county Galway’ and also why, over decades, many people are settling in Galway.
Over the years we have moved many families from all over the uk to the county.
The last removal to Co. Galway we did was for a family moving from Holland Park London to Monivea Co. Galway.
And managed to take a photograph of the North Gate at Athenry, from the cab of the truck.
As is well known locally, there are more medieval walls in the town than anywhere else in Ireland and they are also the best preserved, with a number of the original towers.

The McCrory Family left Sultin, Co. Tyrone in the early 1960s to emigrate to the uk.
From our home in the mountains, with no electricity, and a spring well for water, we found ourselves in the town of Darlington Co. Durham after an overnight ferry from Belfast to Liverpool.
I was Eleven years old and the oldest boy.
And if in any doubt about the fact that we were newly arrived from Ireland, it would easily stand out, that three of the eight of us had red hair, and our names may have been a bit of a giveaway too, incl. Annie Josephine, Pacai, (myself) Sean, Bridget, Kathleen, Mary Francis and Finian.
It was quite a culture shock for us, having to get used to seeing Double Deck buses, Trains, Electric Lights and appliances, and crowds of people driving around in cars.
Three of my siblings have returned to Ireland to live, in Co Tyrone, and Sean has settled in Co. Donegal. And a Ninth child, Michael, stayed on in Ireland, where he had been brought up by his grandparents in Broughderg, and he still lives near the old home place
The rest are still living in the Darlington, and North East area of England.
I am the only one of that McCrory family to have settled in Nottingham.
And I have spent most of my working life helping people to emigrate to england from Ireland and in recent years, also to take people home to Ireland too.

McCrorys Removals go back so far that they were established before the Ford Transit was even produced.
The first removal van we purchased was a Ford Thames Luton Van and it was used to deliver Antique Brass Beds for a shop in Westbourne Grove, Bayswater London W2 in the 1960′s.
The shop, which was called Aristocat, also had a branch in the Kings Road, and was very exclusive.
Some of these beds we delivered were priced at as much as would buy a brand new ‘Wimpey’ built semi-detached home in the North Of England at the time, which was in the region of £2000.
The brass beds were being delivered by us to such areas as the Surrey Stockbroker belt, often having to be installed and erected by our crews in tiny quaint period thatched cottages.
This was very good practice for the future of our removal business, as it required an appreciation of customers valuable possesions, and that care and patience were essential attributes, to getting the job completed, without fuss.
The experience also proved invaluable, when we went on to deliver Antiques and Fine Art from all the large Auction Rooms, including Sothebys, Christies, Bonhams, and in those days, Harrods also had their own Large Auction Rooms, to galleries throughout the UK and Ireland.
It means there are very few items, however rare, that McCrorys Removals would not have moved many times before, in their long years serving the Antique and Fine Art Transport Sector.
