The Battle of Hastings was in fact fought in the town of Battle, so perhaps, it should be called the Battle of Battle! But it's too well known now to fight over it.
As everyone in Britain knows, and often refers to '1066 And All That' ... as if saying Blah Blah Blah... but it has to be seen as an important event when William the Conquerer from Norman France, lived up to his name and was victorious over the English King Harold.
And it is understood that William vowed that, should he win the battle, he would erect an abbey, which did start to be built within a few years of the Battle, and was completed over thirty years later.
Amongst the ruins of the Abbey the High Alter is believed to be the spot that Harold Fell.

The impressive Gatehouse to the Abbey, still stands tall at the end of the High Street

And the important event of history of England, cannot be missed, when visiting the town of Battle.

But this movement is a delivery by McCrorys Removals Ltd from an address near Battle, to Co. Cork and is the inherited effects of an Irish Lady, that lived
in the Battle area for many years.

We are always feeling priviledged to be entrusted with such important consignments.
