Although it is mainly motorway and dual carriageway when travelling towards Holyhead, it can be worth allowing some time to take a break along the very picturesque route, surrounded by dramatic mountains, inviting coastal towns, and plenty of historic castles, churches and charming architecture, to visit, and make the journey more interesting.
